Will of Isaac Larowe

In the name of God Amen. I Isaac Larew Sen. of the Township of Amwell, County of Hunterdon, and State of New Jersey, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same, Do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following (that is to say)

First: to my beloved wife Anne I give and bequeath one of the rooms in my dwelling house, such room as she my said wife shall choose. I also give and bequeath a proportionable priviledge to my said wife in my kitchen, sellar and garden on the plantation where I now live; with the priviledge to pass and repass to and from and about the same during the time she my said wife remains my widow and no longer; but in case of her my said wife's second mariage, the above recited priviledges to cease from thence forward. I also give and bequeath unto my said wife Anne one bedstead, one feather bed, and bedding complete thereunto belonging; and also one milch cow such as she my said wife shall choose of my stock of cattle. And further I give and bequeath unto my wife Anne (for the better raising and educating my children) the rents, issues, and profits of all my plantation whereon I now live situate in the Township aforesd. till my youngest daughter Anne, arrives to the age of eighteen years; and if she my said daughter die before she arrives to the age of eighteen years, my will is that my wife have and receive the rents, issues and profits of my said plantation until she my said daughter would have arrived to the aforesd. age if she had lived. Provided always that in case of a second marriage of my said wife Anne, the said rents issues and profits given and bequeathed to my said wife cease. And I do hereby exclude my said wife from the rents issues and profits above mentioned thence forward after a second marriage. I do further give and bequeath unto my wife Anne, the sum of eighty dollars to be raised out of that part of my real estate I order to be sold as is hereafter mentioned in this my last will and testament. I also give and bequeath unto my said wife Anne, an annuity of thirty dollars the first payment to be paid at a time and to continue as is hereafter mentioned in this my last will and testament.

Second: I do will and ordain that my sons David Larew, Isaac Larew, and Lambert Larew be put apprentices to learn trades as they and each of them arrives to the age of sixteen years.

Third: To my Executor and Executrix daniel Larew and Anne my wife I give the use of my personal estate until my youngest daughter Anne arrives to the age of eighteen years, and if she my said daughter die before sd. period, untill she would have arrived to the aforead. age if she had lived.

Fourth: To my Daughter Mary I give and bequeath the sum of Two hundred and sixty six dollars and sixty seven cents to be paid as is hereafter directed.

Fifth: to my son Daniel Larew I give and devise that part of my plantation adjoining lands of John Dennis and the Alushawking Creek; Beginning at a willow tree on the bank of said creek, and from thence runs North fifty nine degrees west thirty two chains and seven links along said Dennes's line to Larrisons corner, Thence by the following lines severing said devised lands from other lands of my said plantation, south forty two degrees and thirty minutes west twenty one chains or thereabouts to an old proprietary line called Dimadales line; Thence along the same to the aforesd. Alushawking creek, Thence up the said creek the several courses thereof to the place of beginning and contains One hundred and twenty nine acres and eight tenths of an acre of land be the same more or less situate in the Township aforesd. All the above described lands I give and devise unto my said son Daniel Larew and to his heirs and assigns forever (except the privilidges given and granted to my wife Anne conditionally as aforead.) And in consideration of the devise of the above described lands to my son Daniel Larew I do will and ordain that he my said son do pay the sum of thirty dollars mentioned in the first section of this my last will and testament to my wife Anne yearly and every year from and after my youngest daughter Anne arrives to the age of eighteen years during the time she my said wife remains my widow after said period and no longer. And further in consideratio nof the devise of the above described lands to my son daniel Larew as aforesaid I do will and ordain that he my said son do pay the sum of Two hundred and sixty six dollars and sixty seven cents to my daughter Mary in full of the legacy given and bequeathed in the fourth section of this my last will and testament to be paid at the expiration of one year next ensuing after my daughter Anne arrives to the age of eighteen years and if she my said daughter die before she arrives to said age, to be paid one year after she would have arrive to said age if she had lived.

Sixth: I do further will and ordain that the residue of my plantation be sold (to wit that part adjoining Samuel Barber, Gershom Lambert, and the heirs of Andrew Larrison) by my executor and executrix or the survivor of them hereby authorising them or the survivor of them to give a deed and conveyance or deeds and conveyances for the same as soon as conveniently may be after my youngest daughter Anne arrives to the age of eighteen years; and also my personal estate not heretofore disposed of in this my last will and testament and the money arising from the sale of my last mentioned real estate and personal estate I give and bequeath as follows To my wife Anne I give the sum of Eighty dollars and the residue of the money arising from the sale of my said last mentioned real and personal estate I give to my sons and daughters namely John, David, Isaac, Lambert, Charlotte, and Anne and to their respective heirs to be equally divided between them.

Seventh: All the gifts bequest adn priviledges given and and bequeathed to my wife Anne as aforesaid are to be considered in lieu of her right of dower.

I appoint my son Daniel Larew executor and my wife Anne executrix of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Fifth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and three 1803.
