Lazlo DeNagy (1906-1944)

Lazlo DeNagy is a Hungarian artist that was a neighbor of Lester and Susan Larue's in Hopewell, NJ. He painted a variety of subjects, from still lifes to coastal ocean scenes. One of his favorite places to capture was Provincetown, RI.

We don't know a whole lot about him and are quite curious to learn more. He is quoted in Lost Colony: The Artists of St. Augustine, 1930-1950 by Robert Wilson Torchia as saying "the European atmosphere [is] so strong here, then it's good for the eyes to see all this green and colorful flowers after the colorless snow and bare gray trees up north" about St. Augustine. He often signed his paintings Ygan (Nagy backwards)
