Hunterdon Co. Deeds V. 19, P. 263, Abraham Larowe and Sarah His Wife to Adam Ege

This indenture made this twentieth day of May in the eleventh year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the third over England, Scotland, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the faith, etc. Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and seventy one, between Abraham Larowe of Hopewell in the County of Hunterdon, and Western Division of the Province of New Jersey, yeoman, and Sarah his wife, of the one part and Adam Ege of the town, county and province aforesaid, yeoman of the other part. Witnesseth that whereas Abraham Larowe late of Hopewell (the Elder) deceased, being possessed in his life time and at the time of his death of and to a plantation in Hopewell, to wit one hundred acres of land purchased of Col. Daniel Coxe by deed bearing date the 26th day of December 1725 and also to twenty one acres and a quarter of an acre of land with allowance for roads purchased from Samuel Fish and Cornelius Briman as by their deed bearing date the 14th of of April 1739 lying adjoining the land aforesaid record being had to the deeds aforesaid fully and at large may appear. and the said Abrahan Larowe the Elder by his last will and testament devised the said lands to his sons the said Abraham Larowe the grantor to these presents and Isaac Larowe in an undivided right and the said Isaac being so thereof seized did by his indenture of release bearing date the twenty second day of Aptil Anne 1756 did remise, release, and grant all his part and share to his brother Abraham Larowe the said grantor in these presents to all the lands above recited (excepting only one half of th emines on the premises) recorce being had to the release aforesaid fully and at large may appear and whereas John Cornel by his deed bearing date the ninth day of April 1760 and for a reasonable consideration therein mentioned did grant and convey to the said Abraham the present grantor eleven acres and one quarter of an acre of land lying adjoining the above recited parcel of land recorce being had to the deed last aforesaid fully and at large may appear, and the said Abraham Larowe and Sarah his wife being so thereof seized hath full power to convey and assure the same and every part thereof, and doth for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred pounds of good and lawful money of the place aforesaid to them in hand paid or secured to be paid and thereof and every part and parcel thereof do sequit, exonerate and discharge the said Adam Ege, his heirs, executors, and administrators forever by these presents have granted, bargained, sold, alienated, conveyed, and confirmed, and by these presents do freely, fully and also rightly give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm until the said Adam Ege, his heirs, and assigns forever, all the aforesaid three recited parcels of landn situate in Hopewell aforesaid, containing in the whole one hundred and thirty three acres and a half of one more of land and it butted and bounded as followeth. Viz. Beginning at a Beech tree standing in Amwell line and is corner to land of Jonathan Smiths, thence by Smiths line south seventy seven degrees East twelve chains and two links to a red oak another of said Smith's corners, thence by another of his lines and land purchased of John Cornell north eighteen degrees and an half East nine chains to a stone in the midst of the grate road, thence by the same south fifth seven degrees and three quarters east ten chains to a heap of stones on the east side of the said road, thence near as the road runs south three degrees east fifteen chains and fifty five links to a stone on the west side of the road, thence south thirty seven degrees east, part by land of John Harburt, John Cornell, and William Cornel forty one chains and eighty five links to a hickory tree for a corner, thence by land of said William cornel south forty three degrees west thirteen chains to a white oak, thence by land of Josiah Hart north forty seven degrees west nine chains and fifty links to a bush thats said Harts corner, thence part by said Hart and part by Daniel Howell's land north eighty five degrees west twenty one chains and twelve links to said Howell's corner post in Amwell line, thence by said Amwell line as the corcers of the old deed runs north thirteen degrees and three quarters west forty eight chains to the place of beginning and containing within the bounds aforesaid one hundred and thirty three acres and a half of one acre of land. To have and to hold the said one hundred and thirty three acres and a half of one acres of land bounded as aforesaid, be the same more of less. Together with all and singular the houses, buildings, orchards, gardens, fenced and all other improvements with all the mines (except what is in above recited ban excepted) minerals, hawkings, huntings, fowling, fishings with all the appurtenances, privileges and common to (?) the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining to him the said Adam Ege his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only propwer use, benefit and behoof forever - and the said Abraham Larowe and Sarah his wife forces our (?) heirs, executors and administrators do covenant, premise and grant to and with the said Adam Ege, his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof we are the true sole and lawful owner of the above bargained premises and are lawfully seized and possessed of the same in our own proper right as good, perfect and absolute estate of inheritance and have in ourselves good rightful power and lawful authority to grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm the said bargained premises in manner as abovesaid. And that the said Adam Ege his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to timeand at all times forever hereafter by virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably and quietly have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said demised and bargained premises with the appurtenances free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged of and from all and all manner of former gifts grants, bargains, sales, leases, mortgages, wills, entails, joyntures, dowries, judgments, excutions, incumbrances and troubles whatsoever - And the said Abraham Larowe and Sarah his wife do further Covenant and bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and any of them firmly by these presents to warrent the said Adam Ege his heirs and assigns in the quiet and peacable possession of all and singular the said granted premises against any person or persons claiming from by or under us. In witness whereof I the said Abraham Larowe and Sarah my wife have hereunto se by hand and seal the day and year f irst above written.

Be it remembered that on the 25th day of May 1771 personally appeared before me William Cleayton one of his Majesties Judges of the County of Hunterdon Samuel Corwine who being duly sworn according to law, doath say that he saw Abraham Larowe and Sarah his wife the grantors sign seal and deliver the above deed for the uses therein mentioned, and that the woman did declare to him that she signed of her own free and voluntary will and be signed thereto as an evidence.
